Annual Robbie Burns Celebration
It’s that time again to dust off your kilts, and plaid skirts, as celebrants once again pay tribute to the Scottish bard, Rabbie Burns. The annual celebration takes place at the Eganville Legion on Saturday January 30. At 7:00 pm the haggis will be piped in and addressed. A roast beef dinner, complete with haggis, neeps, and tatties, will then be served. Following dinner, the Burn’s celebration formalities will be performed, and then the ceildh begins with performances by the Renfrew Highland Pipes and Drums , and the Pam Reid Highland dancers, along with many special guest musicians, and entertainers. The stage band will delight the audience with all of their familiar Scottish tunes and songs, as well as backing those who wish to sing their favourite Celtic songs on stage. The night is over by 11:00pm with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne”
Tickets are $25.00 each and can be picked up at Sears in Eganville, the Eganville Legion (downstairs), Conway’s Pharmacy in Eganville and Cobden, or calling Guy Jamieson at 628-2234 for tickets or information. The annual event is a fundraiser, sponsored by the Bonnechere Museum.
